Due to the recent changes in legislation and licensing, effective September 1, 2019, we are no longer housing young girls who are pregnant. As much as we have loved helping each and every individual girl get through the trying time in her life that she was facing in her unplanned pregnancy, our long term goal has always been to find a way to prevent them from ever finding themselves in that situation. We are, therefore, transitioning our focus to prevention and awareness/education of childhood sexual abuse where we feel we can have a much greater impact.
Our aim is to shine a spotlight on the realities of childhood sexual abuse and bring it to the forefront where God can shine His light on it to begin the healing process. Childhood sexual abuse has taken root in every aspect of our community and is no respecter of persons. Girls and boys of all ages, races, religions, etc. are being sexually abused every 9 minutes, most likely by someone they know and trust. Someone must be their voice because most of them never come forward or tell anyone.
Did you know that the risk of teen pregnancy is much higher for girls with a history of childhood sexual abuse. Girls who are sexually abused are 2.2 times more likely as their non-abused peers to become a teen mom. About 90% of children who are victims of sexual abuse know their abuser. Only 10% of sexually abused children are abused by a stranger. There are more staggering statistics and the problem is just getting worse.
Please pray for us and continue to support us in our efforts to stop the epidemic of childhood sexual abuse.
